How do I apply for an Concealed Handgun Carry Permit?

1. Complete the application online at https://dl.safety.tn.gov by selecting “Apply for a Permit” under the Handgun Carry Permits section.

2. Training accepted for the Conceal Carry Permit:

• Visit CCPTrainingRequirements.pdf (tn.gov) for a complete list of acceptable training documents.
  • A list of department approved training courses or classes can be found here .
  • A current (not expired), valid handgun permit/license from one of the following states may be used as an as proof of training:

  Arizona	Massachusetts	Virginia
  Florida	Montana	Wisconsin
  Idaho	Nevada	Wyoming
  Iowa	Oregon
  Maine	Utah

  3. Once the course has been completed, you will visit a Driver Services Center.

  • • If you have a Real ID compliant driver license, you may avoid the driver service center by going back to online services and choosing the “Finish Your Application” option under the Handgun Carry Permits section. Here you may upload any required documents and pay the application fee. Fingerprinting instructions will be provided on your confirmation page.
    • You may schedule an appointment for your visit by scheduling a Driver License Appointment at https://tndscappt.cxmflow.com/.
      • Choose the “Schedule an Appointment” option then select “Driver License Appointment Does not include Road Test.”

      4. Once the transaction is complete, the examiner will provide you with the instructions for being fingerprinted.

      FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE
      Incomplete applications will not be processed.
